PC-BSD 1.3 and desktopBSD utils

I was getting ready to upgrade PC-BSD from 1.3 to 1.4.

I removed all the PBI (desktopBSD util was one of those), then I went to user management to add a new user, and I got an error that a library needed for DesktopBSD was not installed.

I am installing 1.4 right now, hopefully I will not get the same error. In the case I see the error again, I will post the exact error message

I had to reinstall DesktopBSD utils to be able to manage the users again!

This is because 1.3 uses the DesktopBSD tools for user management.

You can safely remove this PBI, since 1.4 rolls out a new user manager which does not require the DesktopBSD libs.

I removed the PBI, upgraded to 1.4, and it still was not working until that I reinstalled DesktopBSD, and even then, it is not working properly, I receive an error when I try to set a new user as administrator. When I try to login as that user, I had an empty page and nothing loaded. I had to restart X and log with the other user.

It is not a big deal for me, as I need the extra user only for ssh access, but it may be an issue for people that want to upgrade and have been told to remove all the PBIs before do so.

This is because the 1.4 upgrade has not removed the .desktop link to DesktopBSD's user manager. It's likely a bug in the PBI that you installed.

The PC-BSD user manager should be in: KMenu -> Settings -> System Administration -> PC-BSD User Manager.
