#1107 closed System Defect (fixed)

acpi_ibm functionality deteriorated

Reported by: q/pa Owned by: kris
Priority: minor Milestone:
Component: System Configuration Version: 10.0-RELEASE
Keywords: acpi_ibm Cc: trac-bugs@…

Thinkpad T520, Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2670QM CPU @ 2.20GHz, 8GB RAM, dedicated Nvidia graphics, PCBSD 10.0.1, FreeBSD 10.0-RELEASE-p10, KDE 4.11.6

I am using the exact same settings for my Thinkpad keys as in PCBSD 9.2 but in 10.0.1 the buttons for mute, volume up/down and page backward/forward are not working anymore.

Somehow the syntax changed, too. While the manual still says to use for example

dev.acpi_ibm.0.handlerevents=0x04\ 0x10\ 0x11

in sysctl.conf in 10.0.1 one has to omit the '\' otherwise there will be an error message.

Ok, I found out about the buttons for mute, volume up/down and page backward/forward: I am running KDE and had the keyboard daemon disabled. Enabling the daemon brings back those functions.
