Switchable Graphic Card

I have ASUS UL30VT Laptop which have switchable graphic cards between Intel GMA4500 and NVIDIA G210M. Please provide the tools to choose correct graphic to be used in the XOrg. Right now I can't log on into XOrg due to graphic driver problem. I downloaded and installed latest nvidia driver (195.22) and it detects my video card ok.
Any response will be appreciated.

You should be able to change video drivers at any time during bootup, by selecting "Run display setup wizard" (Option 7) at the boot-splash screen. When the wizard comes up you can then change the driver from intel to nvidia or visa versa. Have you tried that yet?

Yes I did.
It says

Detecting Video Card and monitor capabilities...
Please wait... Start X-Configuration Utility
Using Saved /usr/PCBSD/xorg-gui/conf/xorg.conf.basic from install...
Please wait... Starting X...
rm: /usr/PCBSD/xorg-gui/ no such file or directory
rm: /etc/X11/xorg.conf: No such file or directory
Saved configuration failed... Running auto-detect...
/usr/PCBSD/xorg-gui/bin/ /usr/PCBSD/xorg-gui/cardDetect/ not found
Please wait... Starting X...

then it keeps looping. Any idea? Tq.

Ahh, this was a bug I fixed for RC2. However if you want to test without re-installing RC2, do this:

# svn co svn://
# cd XGUISource
# qmake-qt4 *.pro
# make install

Then reboot, run the display setup wizard and retry, does it work now?

  • Resolution set to fixed
  • Status changed from new to closed

Closing this without feedback, should be working in 8.1 though, seems ok here.
