#806 closed System Defect (deferred)

Network Manager does not automatically enable ethernet after wireless is disconnected

Reported by: joshms Owned by: ken

Component: Network Manager Version: 10-CURRENT

Description

In version 10.0 if you have wireless and Ethernet connected, after disconnecting the wireless network manager will automatically default to re0 on my system or the ethernet direct connection, but not enable the device leaving the user without an internet connection. Right clicking and pressing enable fixes this issue. More annoying than anything because I had to figure out why the connection wasn't working, and it looks like it is enabled considering its the default.

Expected behavior: When disconnecting wireless, network manager should automatically default and enable the re0 ethernet connection if available.

Did you previously disable the wired network card? All the network devices should be enabled by default (even if inactive), preventing this from happening unless the user manually disables one of them (so you need to manually re-enable it). This is especially true if you have the "lagg" failover detection setup (in the "advanced" configuration tab).
