Description

kde keyboard layout change only via system settings / input devices / keyboard possible

sorry have not yet read error reporting guidelines, will do later.

What I did:

Installed newest iso from cdn
PCBSD10.0-RELEASE-p2-01-02-2014-x64-DVD-USB.iso

Did so via text mode installer because of installing in virtual pc.

Changed my language settings and keyboard settings to german.
Changed timezone to Europe/Berlin?.
Left hostname and other stuff untouched.
Did not input a full username, used a nickname.

After installation changed settings in login manager to my needs which are Germany and german keyboard layout.

Then logged in into kde.

Keyboard layout did not work.

Went into kde system settings / input devices / keyboard and added a german layout.
That did the job.

With fluxbox i can change the country and keyboard layout in login manager and it suffices to just login into fluxbox.

Also tested the change with window maker and i worked in an instant.

To do:

Will test the settings of the login manager against all other window managers and desktop environments as my time allows to do so.

Looks like the KDE keyboard module was clobbering whatever keyboard layout was set at the login manager. We just disabled that module by default now, so this should be fixed in future versions.

Workaround: go to the KDE startup services, disable the Keyboard module, and logout/login.
