X server no screens found

Description

When graphical installer is started from the first menu, on the first attempt to start the X server, it will end in an error message:

Fatal server error
no screens found

Second attempt will start the X server. This affects all the tested versions starting from the early 10 betas up to the 10 release candidate 3.

This is a known issue with your type of system. From your logfile it looks like you are running an optimus enabled laptop. The quick fix is (if your laptop allows it) to switch to a discreet graphics only mode in the BIOS. Would you mind giving that a try and see if you can proceed with the installation then? For the sake of cataloging as much information as possible would you also mind sharing your system specs.

Unfortunately, I don't have that option in BIOS. But the X server launches ok on the second try and the installation can be continued. That is before the RC3 version, in which a new bug that hangs the X server on the second try appeared.

I think this is fixed in the upcoming RC4.

If it is not, re-open and post the output of your "pciconf -lv" command.

I have just tested PCBSD10.0-RELEASE-p3-01-13-2014-x64 and the issue still exists. I think there might have been some new errors scrolling up, that I have not seen before. But because the installer hangs to a black screen with its second attempt to start X server, I can't get the logs.

This is now fixed with PCBSD10.0-RELEASE-p4-01-17-2014-x64.
