If you are having trouble with HAL mounting your drives or media, you may need to file a bug report with the maintainers. To do so, follow these steps:

Generate a text file with the following information:

1. Output of lshal
2. Output of sysctl -b kern.geom.conftxt
3. Contents of cat /etc/fstab
4. Output of mount
5. Full dmesg output
6. Stop hald, then run it manually using /usr/local/sbin/hald --daemon=no --verbose=yes and provide the output

Once you have the file populated, go ahead and write up a small description of the problem, and submit it to freebsd-gnome@…, or via the ​Gnome Bug Tracker
