Description

PC-BSD Control Panel > Software and updates > AppCafe?; clicking to launch gives the following error message:

Failed to change to directory '' (No such file or directory)

This is on LXDE, on a recently updated 10.0-RELEASE laptop.

FreeBSD viaduct 10.0-RELEASE-p14 FreeBSD 10.0-RELEASE-p14 #0: Wed Jun 25 14:31:31 UTC 2014 root@amd64-builder.pcbsd.org:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/GENERIC amd64

I plan to test in alternate DEs.

Mate: double-clicking on AppCafe? (under PC-BSD Control Panel) brings up a File Properties windown.

  • Status changed from new to closed

Unfortunately LXDE has become quite unstable and this is not uncommon. We have officially moved LXDE from the supported category to the unsupported category as of a couple of 10.1 i think? You are probably aware but the LXDE team has shifted their focus into a new major project so we will likely not see some of these annoying bugs squashed any time soon. It is a real bummer because LXDE was my favorite DE, but a lot of thinks are just plain broke.

Josh, would you like me to open a separate ticket for Mate, or is that another of the unsupported DEs? I could semi-replicate this behavior there (in Mate), but not in Fluxbox, Openbox, or Lumina - I don't have any other DEs installed.

Thanks and apologies for the noise -- I had forgotten about LXDE's deprecation.
Cheers,
Bridger
