#653 closed System Defect (wontfix)

PC-BSD 9.0 installer problem with the keyboard NUM (numerical keyboard)

Reported by: Boug Owned by: kris
Priority: trivial Milestone:
Component: Installer Version: 9.0-RELEASE
Keywords: NUM key desactivated Cc: trac-bugs@…

At the beginning of the installation process of PC-BSD 9.0, my keyboard's NUM is ON, but when I need to enter numbers for partitioning the drive, I noticed that the NUM (numerical keyboard) is in fact desactivated. I had to press the NUM key to switch it on.

Not really a problem for a skilled user, but can be a nightmare for a non-expert user.

This is intentional. We have it deactivated on purpose because many users were reporting that they were putting in passwords and not realizing their num lock was on. This was especially a problem for laptop users who don't have a seperate number pad.
